Windows 11 has only just ticked over its first year, but we’re already hearing rumours about what Windows 12 will have in store.
For the time being, there’s no rush – we won’t see this new operating system until the end of 2024 – but we like to be prepared for what’s next, so here’s what we know so far…
Details are sketchy, and Microsoft, as usual, is being tight-lipped about its plans. But we’ve been investigating how it might look. And it’s… unique!
If our information is correct, we will see a floating taskbar dock and a search bar in the top-center position. The widgets panel and Action Centre will be relocated to the top of the screen, rather than the bottom.
We don’t expect a significant change in hardware requirements, but they’re unlikely to cause the same problems that Windows 11 did. More PCs will be compatible right out of the box.
However, as Microsoft maintains its focus on security, some of the security hardware required by Windows 11 will likely become more important.
Above all, we expect to see more of the small changes that make such a big difference in usability. Making Windows 12 stable and bug-free will be the top priority, which is great news for all business users.
